As a teacher it is important to give every student equal opportunity in the classroom. Every student should feel accepted and welcomed into the classroom. Every classroom will always have diverse students, but it is important for the teacher to treat every student the same no matter their gender, race, sexual orientation, or cultural background. Outside of school, students have to go through different challenges due to their diversity such as racial slurs, social media attacks (cyber bullying), or problems at home. At school, all children should feel safe and appreciated. I want my students to look forward to coming into my classroom because they know they will never be judged by anyone because of their diversity. It is my job to make my classroom a welcoming environment to students and their families. When I do have my own classroom, I know I will have students of different cultures. I want to take the time to learn more about their culture. I would also like to implement different classroom activities that allows students to learn more about their peers and their backgrounds. I believe diversity is something that can bring the whole class together and be a great learning experience for all if implemented by the classroom teacher correctly. The teacher has to take the steps in order to bring social justice to the classroom and make his or her classroom a positive environment for all.
