What I Know Now About Social Justice

Back in August, I really had absolutely no idea about what social justice meant in terms of my future class. I felt like I thought I knew so much about social justice as a whole, but I had never thought about it in terms of my classroom.
But now, thanks to this class, I have a better understanding of what I am going to have to do in my classroom to make sure that everyone get as much of an experience as possible. I have learned how to celebrate each individual’s diversity and how to accommodate them if they have any individual needs. I have learned how important it is to teach about different cultures and how they fit in with my content area and how not only will it give the students more of an understanding, it will also help them build more pride in their identity.

  1. I agree with every word that you said about what you have learned about social justice within the classroom. We have to be able to bring about this justice for all of our students. We do this by creating safe learning environments in which our students feel as though they can share their ideas and cultures without retribution. We also need to be willing as teachers to incorporate our student’s cultures and ideas into our own lessons. If we do all of these things, we bring social justice into our classrooms and make our students safe and willing to learn.
