I really enjoyed the conversation that was stimulated this week by bringing in the foreign language professor. I had previously experienced a language barrier when I visited a different country, but seeing it take place in our classroom made it more relevant to me. The point I took away was that I must be cautious as to the type of words I use in my classroom, considering I will be a content expert. I have had teachers in the past who did not consider this, and it did make the class more difficult for me as a student. I also think that to be an effective educator it is important to meet students where they are and speak to them in ways they can understand in order for them to truly learn. Once they see that you are trying to be relatable, they will be more likely to  put forth effort in the classroom, and this will create a more effective classroom.
