1. Do you have any new insights after the class experience concerning social justice?
I do not have any new insights after this class, but this class did serve as a reminder of all of the different types of oppression we need to teach our students about. It is important to teach students to have respect for all, and to stand up to those whose views are harmful to others.
2. Do you have any new concerns about social justice?
I do not have any new concerns about social justice. I will continue to teach social justice to my young students in an age appropriate way.
3. What is your philosophy of integrating social justice in the classroom?
It is important to expose students to different types of oppression that people face around the world in order to help combat those negative beliefs that some children might begin to adopt due to the views of their family members. No matter the age, students can have discussions about oppression, what it looks like, and how they can stop it.
